White mistletoe (Viscum album) is one of the most popular symbols of Christmas. According to Christmas tradition, mistletoe brings many blessings such as love, joy, happiness, fertility and the unforgettable Christmas spirit.

However, you need to get the “right” kind of mistletoe but we do not mean the different subspecies (three subspecies of mistletoe grow in our climate). The important thing is to get fresh and properly prepared mistletoe.

The best choice is fresh green mistletoe

Yes, if possible, try to get the freshest available mistletoe because only the freshest mistletoe can provide you with all the benefits. Christians see it as a symbol of long and healthy life. When you bring a mistletoe decoration home do not let it dry out. If possible, put it in a vase with water and if you can, add nutrition for cut plants and your mistletoe will remain looking fresh for a long time.

You can buy various mistletoe decorations which offer different benefits according to the legend. For example, if you want to secure your wealth in the upcoming year, you should get golden mistletoe. Other colours are used only as a decorative addition and unfortunately, do not offer any magical properties.

Do not by a dry mistletoe decoration, which is a common part of various durable decorations. Supposedly, dry mistletoe brings bad luck, but fortunately, a different story is if you let it dry in your home. Drying mistletoe at home should eliminate bad luck. Go figure.
