Old trick how to make your clothes snow-white and fresh-smelling

Not everyone is aware that there is a cheap but effective tool sold in every grocery store or supermarket that will increase the efficiency of the laundry washing process. Yup, we are talking about white wine vinegar. This “ingredient” will increase the whitening capabilities of your laundry machines tremendously. We shall explain how to use vinegar in cloth washing process in the following lines.

First, you should know that vinegar can never replace a regular detergent (powder, gel or washing liquid), but it can increase the effectiveness of laundry detergent significantly. So let us take a look at the main benefits.

You need to use vinegar in advance

Before you start washing, you need to use about half a glass of vinegar on your clothes. This simple step helps to preserves the brightness and avoids soap stains. Pour vinegar into a spray bottle and apply all over your clothes. How does this help? Well, it reduces the amount of soap foam, which often remains visible on fabrics, especially on dark fabrics.

Your laundry will smell much cleaner

Next, pour a little bit of white vinegar into the compartment of your washing machine where you usually pour a fabric softener. Unlike chemical fabric softeners, wine vinegar is made from natural ingredients, and therefore it is less aggressive and less harmful to the environment.

Vinegar contains an acid that is gentle on textile fibre, but at the same time removes dirt effectively. So, vinegar helps dissolving stains which are then “released” easier – even from white clothes. If you still see soap stains here and there (especially on sportswear), add a little bit of vinegar to the drum during the last rinse (100 ml is enough). If you do that, you should eliminate the formation of stains completely.
