Lemon trick can save orchids

Do you have orchids? If you do, you know when your plants are not doing well, and you can tell by checking leaves. If leaves are not firm, lack the typical green colour and have dark spots on them, you know that something is not right. The plant is getting weak and it may fail to produce flowers. Do not despair. We shall show you an interesting trick with a lemon that will help your orchids to become beautiful and have deep green, smooth leaves again.

A regular lemon

In order to revitalize your plant you need to use an ordinary lemon. It is loaded with antioxidants and disinfectant properties, which protect the plant from diseases and even repel harmful insects. Of course, lemon is full of vitamin C and potassium and vitamin C is important for growth, especially when new leaves are formed. You only need few drops of lemon juice.

How to use lemon juice

Nothing complicated. Mix 1 measuring cup of water and lemon juice. That is 200 ml of water and 10 drops of lemon juice. You cannot wipe leaves directly with lemon juice because it is too strong and leaves would dry out. Use a makeup remover pad to apply it – rub the leaf surface with the pad.

Treat your plant once a week

This is the best frequency. Make sure to treat the lower parts of leaves, which may be attacked by powdery mildew or other diseases. If you want to apply preventive measures you may water your plant with water containing few lemon drops. Use 3 drops per 200 ml of water. Water once a month. You may also pour the mixture in the saucer.
