How to plant fruit trees. Step by step instructions
Spring is slowly approaching and you may be thinking about planting new fruit trees. That is a good idea. Home grown cherries, plums or apples plucked straight from the tree are definitely worth it. Well, you will not harvest during the first year, but once the tree gets stronger you will have a regular supply of fresh organic fruit! But to be able to enjoy a great harvest you need to know how to plant trees properly. In the following lines, we shall tell you how to do it.
Supporting stake, tying and proper pit
All young trees need a suitable support. You start with digging a pit that needs to be large enough. You can measure the depth using the shovel handle. Check the picture below. When you done digging you need to hammer the supporting stake down and tie the sapling to the stake. Make sure it is tied and supported well..

Eliminate air cavities
When you bring the soil to the sapling try to eliminate air pockets in the soil as much as possible.Air pockets are not good. A good idea is to add humus to the pit.

Soil compacting and thorough watering
Compact the soil around the sapling lightly and create a groove around the perimeter of the pit which shall direct water properly. Make sure the groove is deep enough. The area around the new tree should be soaked well.
