Frozen potatoes not worth buying?
Because of the current weather, the issue of storing vegetables may be a bit tricky. Let us take potatoes for example. It doesn’t take much for potatoes to start converting starches into sugars and that is not good.
If that happens, potatoes will turn sweet and the taste will be rather strange. The solution is not that hard though. If you follow our advice you will have no problem and you will enjoy your potatoes even if you have already brought frozen potatoes home from the store.
Let potatoes breathe in a warm room
First of all, place potatoes in a warm room and spread them evenly in a single layer. Let them “breathe” for a few days. In this way, you will gently get rid of some of the sugars that have formed inside during freezing but unfortunately, this is not enough to better the taste.

Double boiling?
After they rested for a few days, peel them well and then put them in warm water. Let them warm up for a while. Now, bring the water to a boil but watch the pot. As soon as potatoes become “semi-soft” , replace the water with new and cook the potatoes as usual. This is a great trick and it works pretty well not only for frozen potatoes, but also for old ones that lost their typical taste.
Additional improvement?
If you are trying to save frozen potatoes, try adding a teaspoon of vinegar to the water. You may also add various herbs and spices to the water where you cook potatoes. Herbs will help with the taste and more. Cumin or sage for example, will help you reduce flatulence and improve digestion.
You can also add milk – but not too much as the boiling water could foam too much. Lovage, of course, is another great herb to add. Lovage can really bring out the best in almost any potato. So, if you want to serve a perfect side dish use lovage.
