Forgotten plants are coming back.

Plants

Do you remember houseplants your grandmothers used to grow? Well, these great plants are coming back. You can buy them in flower shops and enjoy their beauty once again. Discover forgotten plants that are great for home growing.

Potted plants have been around since the beginning of times and people put them on all window sills. Do you remember, common ivy, various ferns hanging from cabinets or dracaenas?

Crassula is back

Crassula is an undemanding and very hardy plant and it is great for beginners and those who often forget watering. Yes, Crassula will forgive you if you forget watering. But as with many plants, too much watering is worse than not enough. Crassula tolerates temporary droughts better than overwatering. Water only when you notice that the top layer of soil is dry. Crassula also needs a sunny location so, place it on your balcony or terrace in the summer. Some people also call it the tree of happiness and prosperity as this plant brings you money and happiness. Or so says the legend.

Scindapsus (Satin pothos) will grow anywhere

This is a fast-growing climbing plant that will quickly take over all available windowsills. Scindapsus prefers a bright location and diffused light, but it will also grow in a partial shade and does not like too much water. Water only when the soil has dried out completely.

Sword ferns likes shadow

Nephrolepis are ferns and they do best in a semi-shaded location, but not in full shade. Lack of light causes leaves to turn yellow and drop. Never place ferns right above a heat source because they do not like dry air. Use water that has been sitting around for a while for watering. The soil should always be moist. A good idea is to fertilize ferns every three weeks during the growing season. Use a special fertilizer designed for ferns.

Dracaena grows very tall

Dracaena likes bright places and moderate watering as it cannot tolerate wet roots. Pour excess of water out of the saucer after watering. We recommend fertilizing once every two weeks with a multi-component liquid fertilizer. Dracaena also loves humus-rich and well-drained soil.

Christmas cactus

Schlumbergera, also known as the Christmas cactus needs a bright spot to grow properly, but do not put it on a windowsill that gets too much sun. Christmas cactus hates wet roots, so do not overwater. A good idea is to create a drainage layer in the pot. Water moderately.
