Even older potatoes may taste great
Every housewife will certainly appreciate tricks that will improve the taste of potatoes. Further down you fill find all the ingredients you need to prepare great-tasting potatoes, and all of them are easily available. We shall also tell you what to do to keep all valuable vitamins in older potatoes.
Potatoes ready in 5 minutes
Get a microwavable bowl and put unpeeled potatoes in. The skin must be clean though not with dirt or residual soil. Pour water over the potatoes and cover the bowl with foil. Set the microwave for 5 minutes. That’s all. The potatoes should cook very quickly and taste great.

Fire-baked potatoes without the fire
Get a plastic bag and pour in 3 spoons of flour and 2 spoons of salt. Mix everything in the bag well. Now, wash potatoes thoroughly and while they are still wet put them in the bag, close it the bag and shake it to make sure that potatoes are covered with the flour and salt.
Place potatoes on a baking tray and bake at 180°C, until they are soft and done. You can check the softness inside with a toothpick. Potatoes baked in this way will not smell like smoke but they will taste exactly like fire-baked potatoes.
Potatoes “baked” in water?
Pour 1.5 litres of water into a pot and add 500g of salt. Place potatoes in the cold water and bring it a boil. Cook for 20-30 minutes and turn them regularly. This method is very simple and potatoes boiled in this way really taste like baked.
Can you make older potatoes taste like fresh ones?
Put unpeeled potatoes in a pot and add water. Make sure that all potatoes are covered. Lightly salt the water as always, and add 1 or 2 teaspoons of sugar. Once the potatoes are cooked, drain the water leaving only a small amount at the bottom.
Now, move the pot over a flame, shake the pot a few times and then turn the gas off and let it cool. This way you will improve the taste of older potatoes and you will notice the difference, especially if you cook old potatoes.

Additional trick
Add a piece of fresh carrot to the pot where you cook potatoes. It is neither for decoration nor to improve the colour. Carotene protects vitamin C in potatoes. This is a very useful tip to maintain vitamins in potatoes.
Tip: add a teaspoon of vinegar to the water to keep the potato skin from cracking.
