It may sound strange, but in the past, people collected raspberry leaves often and maybe even more than the fruit. Our ancestors knew very well that raspberry leaves are useful. Today, we can buy various dietary supplements and often do not appreciate the power of plants. Take raspberry leaves for example. And what is the deal with raspberry leaves? The elixir of life?

Yes, an elixir of life. Raspberry leaves contain a plethora of various substances beneficial to the body. Let us name few:

  • vitamin B12,
  • rare organic acids,
  • nutrients
  • and other substances.

Our ancestors used raspberry leaves to treat many ailments such as:

  • toothache,
  • inflammation in the oral cavity,
  • alleviation of menstrual pain,
  • diarrhoea,
  • of the urinary tract,
  • skin problems.

Raspberry leaves can boost our immune system, purify blood and even detoxify our body. Thy also offer much need antiseptic properties and strong support for digestive processes. Some people will appreciate diuretic effects. Raspberry leaves are also used to supress cough.

Leaf drying

You should have no problem to find and collect raspberry leaves. Many people grown raspberries but you can also find raspberry bushes in nature. If you have a fruit dryer you may use it, but make sure that the maximum temperature does not exceed 40 °C. High temperature will degrade the beneficial substances we need so much.

Using dry raspberry leaves

The most common way is to make tea or a healing wrap out of raspberry leaves. If you want to make tea, crush dried leaves in a cup and pour hot water in. The smell of raspberry tea is wonderful, but most importantly, it supports treatment of respiratory infections and reduces fever. Leaves contain plenty of vitamin A, B, C, E as well as iron. Leaves also contain tannins that are very important. Fresh raspberry leaves are often used as a face mask or to treat acne.
