Did you know that orchids love coffee?
Beautifully blooming orchids are an excellent addition to any household unfortunately, not everyone is able to grow perfect orchids. These beautiful flowers can be picky when it comes to nutrition but do not worry; you can provide good nutrition rather easy – coffee sediment. You just go ahead and make your brew and give the sediment to your orchids. Caffeine does orchids well. Here is why
Why coffee sediment?
The reason is simple. Coffee sediment contains potassium, which is a great growth booster for orchids. Potassium helps stimulate flowers and it is mainly used when orchids are stubborn and have failed to bloom for a long time.

Here is how
Treat yourself to a great coffee and keep the sediment. Remove it from the cup and let it dry thoroughly. Put it on baking paper for example. The room must be dry. Avoid moisture. Do not put the sediment in the fridge or where the humidity is high. The sediment catches mould quickly. When done, mix 100 grams of dried coffee grounds in 3 litres of water. Use water that has been sitting for a whileMix it lightly and let it sit for about 5 hours. The water will look a little muddy but that is the way you want it. Now, you need to drain the mixture.

Soaking
Fill a sufficiently deep container with the solution and immerse the orchid in. Let it stand in the solution for about 15 minutes – to extract the necessary nutrients. When done, let it drain and put it back where it was before.

Instant coffee will do too
It may not seem like it, but even instant coffee can kick start your orchids and make them bloom again. All you have to do is to make about 200 ml of regular instant coffee, let it cool and pour a little bit every day in the pot. One week should be enough.
