Create a hedge from decorative grasses
An English hedge looks great but also serves few important functions. It may visually define your property and even protect you from prying eyes. Depending on the type of plants you have, it may also offer other functions, such as protection, interesting design or even give you edible fruits. Many people use ornamental grasses to create a certain structures or demarcate certain areas, but some grasses can grow very dense and you may use them to create a hedge.
Various habitats
Ornamental grasses include many different plants, some of which like dry soil while others like waterlogged soil. This gives you the option to choose a plant that should do well in any soil. There are also many different sizes, shapes and colours. You can even combine grasses with herbs and create a shelter for some useful animals that can help you in your garden.

Ornamental grass will create the cheapest hedge on the market. You do not have to prune it and you can choose from an endless selection of different heights and shapes.
Some ornamental grasses die in winter
Yes, some ornamental grasses will die in winter, but this too may be an advantage. You do not spend much time in your garden in winter so, it may not be an issue. Consider this for example. Hoarfrost, snow or ice crystals on grass, especially in the morning, look very nice. You may be surprised how beautiful and creative winter is and when the spring comes, you simply mow some types of grass and wait for new shoots to appear.
Ornamental grasses as a hedge
If you want to create a hedge, use different types of ornamental grasses and choose perennial species if possible – those that grow above 1 meter. These grasses are usually very resilient and fast-growing.
