Coffee and bay leaf will drive mosquitos out of your terrace – if you use it correctly
Everybody hates those tiny flying creatures that scare you with the typical high-pitched noise and give you itchy stings. Do you want to get rid of them once for all? Sure you do, and you do not need to spend money on expensive candles or spray repellents. Read on.
You need to get ready. First, you need to dry all coffee grounds you can find. You will need plenty of coffee sediments. When done, you need to crush some dried bay leaves and add them to the sediment.
Now, you light the fire
Before you go sit on your terrace or under a garden gazebo, sprinkle some dried coffee grounds with bay leaf on an aluminium foil or tray or other non-flammable mat. If you have a scent burner at home use it. Ignite it and let it burn.

The coffee grounds give off aroma that mosquitoes hate, and the dry bay leaf will create a weak smoke screen. Both will drive mosquitoes out of your surroundings. The good news is that a vast majority of people are not bothered by this natural repellent. Some people evenlike the smell more than the popular citronella candles.
Another use of ground coffee beans in your garden
Ground coffee beans work great as a fertilizer for acid-loving plants. Coffee pH is slightly acidic and you can use it for blueberries, begonias, azaleas, cranberries or magnolias. You can also use it to nourish heathers or decorative hydrangeas – regardless of the colour. If you sprinkle coffee grounds around flower beds, you will create effective protective barrier against slugs and ants.
