Baking soda – 5 tips how to use it

We have a few clever ideas how to use baking soda and how to save money. These are simple tips and anyone can use them. If you get used to these tips it will become a habit and you will apply them automatically.

Baking soda is not only for baking. We all know that it removes heavy dirt, lime scale and all kinds of stains. It also softens water and absorbs unpleasant odours.

Baking soda as a dishwashing liquid

Do not feel like buying expensive detergents anymore? Great, mix a teaspoon of baking soda with 400 ml of water. If you want, add a few drops of your favourite essential oil and pour the mix into a bottle.

Baking soda as a laundry detergent

You can make a great stain remover from baking soda. Use 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of grated soap and mix it to produce a paste-like texture and then dilute it with 2 tablespoons of water. Rub the paste onto the stubborn stain and put the clothes in your dishwasher and start the cycle.

Clean your oven

Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda, 2 tablespoons of salt, and 3 tablespoons of hot water. When done, apply the thick paste to the inside of your oven, wait a while, and then wipe it off with a soft side of a sponge. It should work very well.

Clean stuffed toys

Pour baking soda into a bag and put the dirty stuffed toy in it. Seal the bag tightly and shake it for a while. Baking soda will absorb the dirt and will make the toy fluffy and like new.

Environment friendly cleaning

Baking soda is not the only option that you can use for cleaning. White vinegar is another flexible cleaner that removes grease, odours, stains and moulds. If you are looking for a great antibacterial and disinfecting agent, try salt. Another candidate is a citric acid which is used as a lime scale remover. Lemon will make your laundry white as a snow and will also remove stains and greasy spots.
