A magic called vinegar
One of the cheapest and most common ingredients used in cooking is undoubtedly vinegar. There are plenty of uses and we all know it does not end with dish or salad seasoning. Vinegar can literally do a magic in your garden. Let us take a look at some basic tricks that vinegar can do.
Acid-loving plants enjoy vinegar
Exactly. Hydrangeas, gardenias or rhododendrons love acidic soil and vinegar is the perfect solution. Here is how to prepare a vinegar solution easily. You need 250 ml of vinegar and 4 litres of water. Mix everything thoroughly and you are ready to acidify an alkaline soil.
Cat repellent
Do you want to get rid of stray cats that visit your garden? Here is another simple solution. All you need is plain vinegar. Spray vinegar around places where you see stray cats most often. You may add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar and stray cats will not visit your garden anymore.

Get rid of ants
Ants at home may be a real disaster, especially if they settle around your sitting area, between tiles or in other hard-to-reach spaces. But do not despair and make an ant repellent by mixing equal amounts of water and vinegar. Spray this repellent round places where ants are concentrated the most and they will leave soon.

Vinegar extends the life of cut flowers
If you pour two tablespoons of vinegar and one teaspoon of sugar to a vase where you keep cut plants they will stay fresh longer. The trick also works with roses, which are often part of various decorations but unfortunately do not last long.
No more fruit flies
Tiny fruit flies can be annoying, especially indoors but they also like to hover around fruit trees and you do not want that either. Mix vinegar with water, add little sugar and a teaspoon of molasses, pour everything in a container and hang on a tree. Flies will get stuck in the container and when they do replace the container. This way flies will not bother you when working around the tree.
