Peanuts Arachis hypogaea and its benefits
Peanuts come from Brazil, but are very popular worldwide as they are part of sweet and salty recipes. Peanuts also offer great nutritional values. But the problem is that we often enjoy them in the wrong form. If you buy them in shells, but eat them pealed, you will not get the most out of them as you body cannot break down peanuts properly. Roasted and salted peanuts lose some of their nutrients due to heat treatment and you also consume a large amount of salt and fat.
Use of nuts
Peanuts belongs to the Fabaceae family and the most popular way to enjoy them is roasted, but peanuts are a part of many other products and dishes. Thanks to high amount of fat, they are used to make oil, peanut butter, flour, various sweets, drinks, nut spreads, snacks, soups and desserts. You can use peanuts boiled, fried or baked.

Peanut content
Unsalted, unroasted peanuts contain protein, fat, fiber, vitamins B, folic acid, vitamin E and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, manganese, copper, iron and zinc. This is a pretty impressive range of beneficial substances with many positive health benefits. Despite the general opinion that peanuts are too fatty and that we should not eat them to avoid heart disease, the opposite is true. Niacin in peanuts reduces bad cholesterol and supports production of good cholesterol.
Allergies
Peanuts and peanut products contain strong allergens. If you are allergic to peanuts you may get an anaphylactic shock, which is very serious and may even cause death. The interesting fact is that people experience an anaphylactic shock after eating roasted peanuts rather than raw peanuts. Peanut are not suitable for pregnant women. The good news is that peanut oil does not cause allergies.
